Three friends and I stayed at the Polochar in order to play the fantastic Askernish golf course on the island. The hotel is 5 star in every way and set in a great location, a few yards from the Atlantic Ocean. Morag and her team were so welcoming and friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable and all our meals were excellent. I can't rate the Polochar too highly, it's superb.(Souce - Trip Advisor)

We were on an Outer Hebrides tour and after the ferry from Harris we drove all the way down to the Polochar Inn for just the one night (unfortunately).Situated right on the shore and easy to see from the road as you drive south we walked into the reception area to be met by a very welcoming young lady. After telling her we had to catch the early ferry back to Mallaig (6.20am sailing) she offered to make us a continental breakfast to take with us. While we declined, the offer was very generous.Our room was far better than expected as many hotels in the islands don't seem to care. It was clean and comfortable with a view overlooking the shore and the sea. Be warned, the floors and stairs are creaky, this being an old building.We reserved a table in the bar area and the service was faultless by the young staff. Proper fish and chips but interrupted when I noticed the sky turning red and my wife went out to take some photos of the sun setting on the sea. The portions are big but the food was very good.We packed before going to bed so as not to disturb other guests and leaving at 5am walked out to see the sky covered with stars. Zero light pollution here and wished we could have studied the constellations for longer.The Polochar was the highlight of our hotel stays on this trip and we would not hesitate to return. We stayed there for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular views. The food in the restaurant was very good and the wine and whisky were excellent.
